It’s not unusual for me to meet people who don’t know how to go about choosing exterior paint colors, so they just paint the siding and trim in their favorite colors.
This house in Tryon, NC was different. The former owners had tried diligently to work with the brick, but wound up with too much of a good thing because they painted the siding to match, and used a pastel version of the brick color on the trim, and that didn’t feature or flatter it. The new owners wanted a complete transformation, and we were pleased to help them.
Here’s how the house looked before:

My goals for this house were to:
- find colors that coordinated with the brick and the roof
- make the front door a natural focal point
- make the lattice and deck look more harmonious with the house and
- use contrast to create more interest.
